General Elastomer information

Nitrile (NBR) – The uses of nitrile rubber include disposable non-latex gloves, automotive transmission belts, hoses, O-rings, gaskets, oil seals, V belts, synthetic leather, printer’s form rollers, and as cable jacketing; NBR latex can also be used in the preparation of adhesives and as a pigment binder.

HSN (HNBR)(H2S symbol) – Hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber has a higher attributed temperature rating in comparison to NBR. Due to its strength, it has been adopted in the automotive, industrial and other performance-demanding fields. In the oilfield industry, HNBR is commonly used for industrial sealing, and can also be used in rolls for steel and paper mills.

Viton™ – (need trade mark R) (FKM, Flouroelastomers) -Fluoroelastomers’ performance is dependent on the nature of the base of polymer and the compounding ingredients used for moulding a final product. Performance can vary when viton polymer contains rubber goods from different sources. Viton is compatible with hydrocarbons and incompatible with ketones including acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, ester solvents such as ethyl acetate, amines and organic acids.

Fluorosilicone – A widely used elastomer that can be compounded to meet a wide range of applications. The mechanical and physical properties are very similar to silicone rubber. However, fluorosilicone offers improved fuels and mineral oil resistance but poor hot air resistance when compared with silicone.

Calrez™ – (need trade mark R)(H2S symbol)- ( FFKM) – Perfluoroelastomer (FFKM) is the leading chemically resistant elastomer available. It is effectively a rubber form of PTFE. Perlast® perfluoroelastomer grades offer other properties that are extremely effective in sealing applications where purity, high temperatures, and reliability of sealing force are important.

Chemraz™ – (need trade mark R)(H2S symbol)- ( FFKM) -Perfluoroelastomer (FFKM) is the leading chemically resistant elastomer available. It is effectively a rubber form of PTFE. Perlast® perfluoroelastomer grades offer other properties that are extremely effective in sealing applications where purity, high temperatures, and reliability of sealing force are important.

Oil States Red (H2S symbol) – OSI Red acts a superior swabbing compound that makes it ideal for sever service applications from long deep wells. OSI Red is our most tear-resistant compound and works well with frac fluid, acid, and H2S applications.

Oil States Green – OSI Green acts as a slightly softer alternative to OSI red, suitable for sever applications when lubrication is not present.

Oil States Black – OSI Black is a general service material that works well with oil and water applications. It’s one of softest and most forgiving compounds.

Oil States blue – OSI Blue is a general cold service weather compound that is made for stripping and cleaning in all arctic-like temperatures
