BESTOLIFE® 3010® NM Special Non-Metallic Thread Compound for Rotary-Shouldered and Premium Connections

BESTOLIFE® 3010® NM Special is a third-generation, non-metallic, non-conductive thread compound developed to address environmental concerns associated with rotary-shouldered connections in ecologically sensitive regions such as the North Sea, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, the South Atlantic, Alaska, and Sakhalin Island.

This compound combines the excellent low-temperature application properties of BESTOLIFE® 3010® Ultra with superior downhole galling resistance and enhanced eco-toxicological performance. It applies easily to cold, wet connections exposed to seawater at ambient temperatures as low as -49°F (-45°C) and provides optimum protection in the deepest, hottest holes—lubricating up to 400°F (204°C) and protecting solids up to 1000°F (538°C).

3010® NM Special forms a continuous gasket-like seal between rotary shoulders during makeup, preventing galling—even on non-magnetic materials—and connection washout under high internal fluid pressures and directional drilling loads. It meets the performance requirements of many proprietary metal-to-metal seal casing and tubing connections and is approved for running all VAM connections in Carbon and 13% Cr. steels (except DINO VAM and Big Omega).

It complies with the OSPAR Commission Harmonised Mandatory Control Scheme and was the first Category #9 Yellow Pipe Dope registered in the Norwegian CHEMSDatabase for offshore use by Statoil ASA in the Barents Sea.
